Rams Head Antiques has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The chest is constructed from pine and cedarwood with a deep red lacquer finish. This is one of two near matching pieces we have currently listed, the other photographed here in the last picture. Please email or text if you are interested in securing these as a good near pair is a most rare find. These chests came with their purchase invoice from the previous owner who bought these as a pair from the Gordon Reece Gallery of Finkle Street. Knaresborough for £1610 in 1996. The chest dates from around 1870 and measures 1 metre high 88cm wide by 39cm deep.
