Description

Here is a beautiful late Victorian sideboard of excellent quality.

This very grand and imposing solid walnut Victorian sideboard has an elegant mirrored back. Having a moulded cornice, over a dentil frieze, with a lovely shell carved border below, which is exquisitely carved, showing great skill.

Having a large central bevelled mirror, flanked by delightful carved panels of immense quality-beautifully, crisply carved decoration, depicting neo-classical designs of urns, flowers, foliage and scrolls. Below each panel are fixed shelves, with a small bevelled mirror below.

The base of the sideboard has three central drawers with open space below, flanked by two cupboards with raised panelled doors, having central carved panels, again of immense quality and craftsmanship, with neo-classical decoration. The interior of the left cupboard has two original wooden slides, with open space below. The right cupboard interior houses a wooden cellarette, for bottles of varying sizes. With a single fixed shelf above. Pretty original brass handles to the drawers, locks and escutcheons present, no keys.

Standing on turned fore-feet.

Overall a very imposing and impressive piece of exceptional quality.

Lovely rich, warm colour and good patina.

The condition is very good antique condition, with general expected signs of age and use, but really very minor and exceptionally good for the age of the sideboard.

Breaks down into two sections, making moving and transporting very easy.
