Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1860s.
It has a removable raised back with elegant, decorative scrolled carvings above a rectangular moulded top. The body of the sideboard has three finely shaped and beautifully figured frieze drawers with moulded drawer dividers. Each pedestal has a cupboard door with delightfully figured flamed mahogany central panels along with arched mouldings. The right had interior has one fixed shelf above a deep drawer with the original brass swan neck handle, whilst the left hand interior has two sliding linen trays. The piece stands on a plain plinth and the mahogany is a lovely rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
