Early 18th Century Walnut Chest on Stand

18th century
Description

A late 17th early 18th century Walnut chest of drawers.

William and Mary-c1690-1700.

To the top, this very imposing chest has mirrored burr walnut veneers over a moulded cornice, with two short and three long graduating drawers, with the most lovely burr walnut and cross-banded fronts.

Later re-placed Georgian handles brass handles. Ornate brass escutcheons.

Each drawer is constructed from oak, opening on side-runners.

With oak and pine panelled sides. Originally would have separated into a two part chest, now fixed.

Evidence of the original bun shaped feet, now standing on a later, pointed toe cabriole legs, with a shaped front apron.

The walnut is a wonderful rich warm colour, having developed a glowing patina over the centuries, very tactile.

The condition overall is very good antique condition, with general expected signs of use consistent with age. Minor repairs.

The dimensions are.

Height-118cm.

Width-103cm.

Depth-59cm.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
