Here is an example of a good quality Jacobean style oak geometric dresser base, circa 1840, which has been constructed from early 17th Century timbers. The Jacobean period stretched from 1603 to 1625 during the James 1st reign. The earlier timbers we refer to are specifically, the carcass, including the top and drawer fronts. The dresser boasts great craftsmanship including a very good quality one-piece moulded top. The front of the dresser features classing geometric mouldings to he drawer fronts along with inset side panels. The two large working drawers, which are hand dovetailed and pine lined, feature the Victorian brass drawer knobs. The dresser stands on the barley twist shaped legs with connecting stretchers to the back legs for added strength. The backboards, inset side panels and drawer linings are constructed of solid pine.

This item features a mid-brown oak colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:

This is a Jacobean style oak geometric dresser base, constructed circa 1840, from earlier 17th Century Jacobean timbers. The earlier timbers we refer to are specifically, the carcass, including the top and drawer fronts. Nominal old use marks to the top of the dresser and leading edges but please remember this item in parts, is nearly 400 years old. The hand-dovetailed drawers are in good working order. The brass drawer knobs are Victorian in age. This item is solid in joint and ready to use. Free of woodworm.
