Description

An extremely handsome Georgian chest of drawers in mahogany. The thumb-moulded-edge top sits over an arrangement of graduated cockbeaded solid-oak-lined drawers, all of which retain their original gilt-brass swan-neck handles. The carcass of the top two drawers separates from the lower two, enabling access up and down particularly tight staircases. The backing boards and all four bracket feet are original, as is the general finish to the top quality timbers throughout, having a rich colour and a glowing patination. There is a working key to the top full-width drawer. This fine chest is English, George III, c.1780s.
