Stunning Chest Of Drawers Of Gillows Quality

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Waterfall Antiques

A supreme 19th century chest of drawers of the sort of quality produced by Gillows, the Rolls Royce of British cabinetmaking. It is stamped Walker of Lancaster – an ex-employee of the Gillows factory who worked for them from the 1790''s. Father and son – both Henry Walker – went on to produce their own furniture well into the next century. The graduated cockbeaded drawers - all side lined in solid oak - retain their original turned knob handles, again of Gillows pattern. The backing boards and all four turned bun feet are original, and there is a working key to the top full-width drawer. Presented in truly wonderful condition, this stunning chest of drawers represents a fine investment. It is English, dating from c.1825 – c.1850.
