This refined style was typical of English dressers (compared to their Welsh counterparts). The Home Counties are the counties of South East England and the East of England that surround London, not including the capital city itself. The top of this dresser is constructed from two pieces of oak and is finished off with a moulded frieze. The dresser base consists of three working cushion fronted pine lined drawers, which feature later brass escutcheons and brass swan neck handles. The central drawer features a working lock and key. Below, there is a primitive shaped frieze. The dresser stands on two elegant cabriole legs that terminate on unusual heart-shaped pad feet.

This dresser features a rich oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
The item is in excellent condition, which is commensurate with its age. The dresser has an excellent colour and figuration to the timber. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There is a working lock and key to the central drawer. The brass swan neck handles and escutcheons are old replacements. The drawers have been re-lined a long time ago. There are no splits to the top or sides of this dresser, which are rare to see. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
