Description

French marble top commode.

Dating from 1860 this is a good quality Louis Philippe commode.

In figured flame mahogany with 4 full width drawers all oak lined.

The top and second drawer are partitioned.

The commode has its original dark grey figured marble top.

This commode was made by Jean-Charles Gomien, whose name appears on a handful of good Second Republic and Second Empire commodes. He is listed only as "Gomien, ébéniste" in the Almanach Imperial of 1855, working in Paris on Rue du Bac, passage Ste. Marie, in Paris.
