Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1860s.
It has a shaped back with beautifully scrolled carvings above a strikingly figured top. Below this can be found three oak lined frieze drawers over four cupboard doors, all having moulded edges. Both the cupboard in the centre and the one to the right have a single removable shelf while the cupboard to the left contains two fixed shelves. The sideboard as a whole stands on an inverted break fronted plinth and splits into three sections for ease of removal. The mahogany is a rich medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
