Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Its construction suggests it has been made using period timbers from the Georgian era, the only indication that it is of a later date are the construction methods used and the timbers used within the drawers. The rectangular top has a moulded edge and sits above four graduating cock beaded drawers with brass swan neck handles. It stands elegantly on shaped bracket feet and is a lovely warm mellow shade of mahogany. It is worth noting that a genuine Georgian chest of drawers of this style and size would cost in the region of £6k. It has a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
