Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The beautifully figured top has a reeded edge and sits above four graduating drawers. All the drawers are cock beaded, display the original turned handles and contain very early blue lining paper. The piece as a whole stands on splayed bracket feet and the mahogany has aged to a lovely rich shade. Overall it is a lovely fine piece of antiquity with a very practical purpose. It has a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
