The top of the chest features an oak top with a moulded front and sides. To the sides of the chest there are fielded panels. The front of the chest features lovely carved drawer fronts. Below, there are three working sycamore lined drawers, which features the original brass drop down handles. The drawers are constructed of sycamore; this is typical for a country chest of this type. The chest sits on the original shaped cabriole feet and in between there is a very pretty shaped frieze. The backs of the chest feature the original oak backboards. This chest boasts a stunning original colour and patination, which can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
Condition Report:
This chest is in excellent original condition and is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and sides but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chest boasts the original polish finish; it has an excellent colour and patination to the timber. The brass handles are original to the chest. The oak backboards are original also. The drawer linings are original. All drawers work and close flush to the frame. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
