Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It has a moulded cornice above a deep frieze with thumb moulding and circular decorative carved detailing. The chest has a two over six drawer configuration, all being oak lined with period oval brass handles displaying attractive central decoration. The drawer fronts are cock beaded and have satinwood cross banding along with boxwood string inlay around their perimeters. The piece stands on shaped bracket feet, still retains its original back boards and is a rich warm medium shade of mahogany. It has a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
