Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1860s.
This is a superb example of a magnificent Victorian mahogany sideboard dating from around 1860.
The body of the sideboard is divided into three sections separated by quality carved corbels. It has four cupboard doors with delightfully figured central panels along with arched mouldings. The central section contains a single fixed shelf, the right section has a fixed shelf above a cellarette drawer while the left side contains two oak lined sliding linen trays. The piece stands on an inverted break fronted plain plinth and splits into three sections for ease of removal. The mahogany is a lovely warm medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
