Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The rectangular moulded top sits above an unusual drawer configuration comprising of a central hat drawer flanked by four smaller drawers. Below these can be found three graduating drawers. All the drawers are oak lined, have the original brass swan neck handles and display satinwood cross banding along with boxwood and ebony string inlay to their fronts. The chest sits on a moulded plinth and still retains the original back boards. It has aged to a rich medium shade of walnut with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
