Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The rectangular top is beautifully cross banded and sits above an unusual drawer configuration each drawer having moulded edges and replacement Victorian shell design cup handles. The lower edge is reeded and the chest stands on shaped bracket feet. It still retains its original back boards and splits into two sections aiding transportation. The mahogany has aged to a warm medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
