Large, Superb Quality Victorian Flamed Mahogany Antique Sideboard.

Dating from around 1850 in the Victorian period this grand sideboard is constructed from the finest quality flamed mahogany timbers. It has a raised wonderfully figured 'mirrored' flamed mahogany, back with moulded edge, swan neck pediment and magnificently carved central 'Green Man' decoration. The top is beautifully figured with a deep moulded edge. The fronted is break fronted with a bow front centre piece over a central bow fronted oak lined drawer. It stands on two figured flamed mahogany pedestal cupboards displaying magnificent carvings and having deep moulded plinths. The interiors of the cupboards differ slightly, the left one contains three oak lined linen trays while the right one contains a drawer above a fixed shelf below which can be found a deep lead lined cellarette drawer. This very grand stately piece is constructed from a quality of mahogany no longer available to today's craftsman due to its rarity. In years past this quality of sideboard retailed at around £6,000. Antique values, just like commodity prices, go up and down and this is the perfect time in that pricing cycle to purchase a piece such as this! The sideboard fortunately splits into several sections making it far more portable than one might first think. It has aged to a wonderful rich medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
