This is a very good quality English George III Mahogany Chippendale influenced Chest on Chest, circa 1780 - 1820. The front of the chest and sides are constructed from the best quality mahogany. The chest consists of two halves. The top section features lovely reeded columns to the front corners. The top chest is smaller than the base chest and consists of two over three drawers. The bottom section consists of three graduated drawers. There are 8 working cock-beaded drawers all features the original working locks and a key. It has the original backboards, original oak drawer linings, hand dovetailed drawer construction and the original moulded cornice above a dentil frieze. The chest features old replacement solid fretwork brass handles however the escutcheons are original. The chest stands on the original bracket feet. The top and bottom are completely original to each other. This is an ideal item for the bedroom to store clothes.

Condition Report:
The chest is in excellent condition. Some nominal old use marks to the leading edges and corners but nothing significant considering its age. The eight drawers feature old replacement solid fretwork brass handles however the escutcheons are original. There is a working key and lock for all the drawers. There has been some very old restoration to the left side of the chest near the centre point where the two chests join a long time ago (see photos).
