Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The rectangular moulded top sits above a flamed mahogany frieze drawer which still retains the original blue lining paper and key with working lock. The body of the chest has a two over three graduating drawer configuration, all displaying cock beading and the original brass swan neck handles with working locks operated by the same key. The interiors of the drawers are clean and tidy and are flanked by reeded side panels with decorative inlay. The whole piece stands on raised shaped bracket feet and is a rich medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
