George III Mahogany Chest on Chest

18th century
Description

Circa 1770, large mahogany George III chest on chest, with a stylish and fine dentil cornice. Below this is an apron with crossbanding, boxwood inlay and flamed mahogany. There is a combination of 2 short over 6 drawers which are graduating in size from top to bottom, and have original swan neck handles and stylish proud escutcheons. The drawers all have cockbeadings on the edges. Inside, the liners are in oak. The front fore edge of the top section has a canted corner with an inlaid panel similar to the apron on the top. There is a moulding between the top and the bottom section, and on the bottom are three drawers which are also graduating. There is a simple moulding below these and the whole piece stands on four large bracket feet. This is a nice large piece of Georgian furniture with great storage.

Size 205cm high x 114cm wide x 58cm deep.

Most items include delivery anywhere in the UK mainland.
