This is a stunning quality and completely original English George III Mahogany Chippendale influenced Chest on Chest, circa 1780. The front of the chest and sides are constructed from the best quality mahogany. The chest consists of two halves. The top chest is smaller than the base chest and consists of two over three drawers. In between each section there is a working brushing slide. The bottom section consists of three drawers. The chest is completely original. There are 8 working cock-beaded drawers all features the original working locks and a key. It has the original backboards, original oak drawer linings and hand dovetailed drawer construction, original dentil cornice above a moulded frieze. The chest features very heavy original brass swan neck handles and escutcheons (a sign of good quality). The chest also boasts stunning quality Chippendale influenced shaped brass key escutcheons. The whole of the chest stands on bracket feet. The top and bottom are completely original. This is an ideal item for the bedroom to store clothes.

The chest boasts a rich dark brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
The chest is completely original and is in very good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. All eight drawers feature the original brass swan neck handles, escutcheons and working lever locks. All drawers retain their cock beading. There is one original working key. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
