Fine Early 18th Century 3 Foot Walnut Chest

Description

FINE early 18th century George I walnut veneered chest of drawers of fantastic proportions. Only 3 foot wide maximum. Two over three drawer configuration with good correct replacement turned bun feet in the original holes. The drawers with ash feathering and all the original brassware and fully oak lined inside.

The ends are also walnut, the top with two matched figured veneeres with ash feathering and nicely grained and figured wide cross banding. Cross grain moulds both top and bottom. Double reed mouldings inbetween the drawers in oak which are totally original.

All the original iron locks.

Beautiful rich and mellow colour. A few old veneer repairs as you would expect on a piece of walnut of this age but basically very good. No splits to the ends.

SIZE; 3 foot wide by 20" front to back by also 3 foot high
