The “Border counties” is a term which denotes an imprecisely defined area along and around the border between England and Wales in the United Kingdom. The top of this dresser is constructed from two pieces of oak. The dresser features mahogany cross-banding to the top and fronts of the drawers. The dresser base consists of three working hand dovetailed oak lined drawers which feature brass escutcheons and brass swan neck handles. The drawers are cock-beaded and fronts are cross-banded with mahogany. The top features a moulded edge design is repeated on the apron. The dresser frame is constructed using the traditional pegged construction method. The drawers are oak lined with the original backboards and the dresser sits on elegant cabriole shaped legs.

Condition Report:
The item is in excellent condition and is commensurate with its age. The dresser has a fantastic colour and figuration to the timer. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The brass swan neck handles and escutcheons are old replacements. There are no splits to the top or sides of this dresser which rare to see. Free of active wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
