Small Regency Mahogany Chiffonier (C.1820)

Description

This is a superb quality antique Regency mahogany waterfall chiffonier of a rare small size, circa 1820.

This is a superb quality antique Regency mahogany waterfall chiffonier of rare small size, circa 1820. The chiffonier boasts a pretty waterfall top with a top display shelf. The cedar lined drawer below is hand dovetailed and features the original brass knobs and ebony inlay. Below the drawer there is a stunning blind door which is lined with gold and pleated silk; the outer of the door is framed in a brass diamond shape carved grill. The interior of the door is also lined with gold pleated silk and gold braiding around the perimeter. There are two shelves inside the chiffonier. The chiffonier features a working lock and key to the door. The sides are ebony strung and the chiffonier stands on its original turned legs.

External Height: 138cm or 4’ 6¼”

External Width: 57cm or 1’ 10½”

External Depth: 32cm or 1’ 0½”

Second Shelf Height: 123.5cm or 4’ 0½”

Base Height: 92.5cm or 3’ 0½”

Condition Report:

This chiffonier sideboard retains the original polish and is in excellent condition. Some nominal old use marks but the item is solid in joint. The drawer and door opens smoothly; the door key and lock work. Free of worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
