Victorian Scottish Chest of Drawers

19th century
Description

A very fine example of a chest of drawers, made in Scotland around 1860.

The veneers of this chest are of fine quality and the inlay is superb with small 2 pieces missing (see picture) which my cabinet maker will restore prior to delivery.

The chest stands 50 inches wide, 25 inches deep and is 54 inches high.

The quality of this piece is typical of the Victorian period , using great quality timbers and wonderful shapes. The ogee drawer at the top of the chest and the barley twist turnings could simply not be repeated by current day cabinet makers.

The chest stands strong with all original oak linings to the drawers, all with original locks even with the original key.
