A Queen Anne Early 18thc Walnut Chest

18th century
Description

An 18thc walnut chest of 2 over 3 graduated drawers of a particularly fine colour. Circa 1720 or earlier the chest has a quarter veneered top with herringbone inlay and crossbanded outer edges. Burr walnut quarter veneered drawer fronts again with herringbone inlay and crossgrain half round mouldings to the surrounds and uprights between the drawers. Massive oak flat bun feet which appear original. The drawers are oak lined and the carcass is of pine. There have been a succession of handles and escutcheons to this lovely chest over the years, the current ones being period in design and of some age. Overall it is in good condition and has not been over restored or altered but it does show a number of battle scars in line with its passage through time. It measures 100 cms wide by 90 deep by 58.5 deep.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
