Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
Slide is oak framed with mahogany facing to match drawers and has the original brass "axe" handles. Original feet and back.

Chest has either been made in two parts as some of the Sussex / Norfolk ones were or else it has been cut at some time in its life. Whatever it is very solid and hardly noticeable and doesn't detract from what in fact is a very good early George III chest of small desirable proportions.
SIZE; 34" wide max, 20" from front to back and 28" high
