An Edwardian architectural watercolour drawing on paper depicts the front elevation of The General Medical Council building on Hallam Street, rendered in warm sepia tones with ink detailing. The classical facade design incorporates rusticated masonry, a symmetrical arrangement of multi-pane windows, arched entryways, dormer windows along the roofline, and a formal title block in the lower corner. It measures 47 cm by 46 cm including the timber frame and glass glazing. A brown wooden frame encloses the artwork beneath a white paper mount, showing marks to the paper surface alongside reflection on the glazing. Suitable for display in a gentleman's library, study, or hallway, this piece fits well placed above a sideboard.

An architectural elevation watercolour is a scale drawing depicting the exterior facade of a proposed or existing structure, historically rendered in watercolour wash and ink line to convey spatial proportions, materials, and depth.

Renderings from this period were typically executed on heavy cotton rag paper or draughting board using ruling pens with Indian ink, layered with watercolour and gouache washes to create realistic shadows and textures.

Authentic pieces feature crisp ink lines drafted with precision tools, faint pencil guide lines, hand-lettered title blocks containing the architect or draughtsman details, and natural paper aging or watermarks.

These structured graphical works fit effectively into contemporary and traditional settings alike, bringing linear discipline above consoles, along hallway gallery walls, or within a dedicated home office.

To prevent fading and discoloration, mount paper artworks using acid-free matting under UV-protective glass, keeping them displayed away from direct sunlight, dampness, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
