This WWII military wristwatch dates from the 1940 period. The design comprises a stainless steel and brass case with a silver and brass-toned finish showing visible wear on the lugs, paired with a black leather strap and a textured winding crown at the right side. The matte black dial displays luminous Arabic numerals, sword hands, an outer railtrack minute ring, a small sub-seconds dial positioned at six o'clock, the brand name Record, and the British military broad arrow mark. The case measures 3.6 cm in width excluding the crown, 4.6 cm in height, and 1.1 cm in depth. Items of this type suit collector displays, gentleman's library settings, or incorporation into a wardrobe for daily wear as a functional vintage timepiece. The mechanical construction incorporates a manual wind mechanism housed within a waterproof case specification.

During the Second World War, the British Ministry of Supply commissioned twelve Swiss watchmakers to produce standardised wristwatches for military personnel. Known as the Dirty Dozen, these watches were designated W.W.W. for Waterproof, Wrist, Watch, and met strict specifications for legibility, durability, and accuracy.

Mid-twentieth-century military watches were typically constructed with chrome-plated brass or stainless steel cases, acrylic plexiglass crystals, and matte black dials. The hands and numerals were coated with luminous paint for night visibility, fitted to durable leather or canvas straps.

Authentic pieces feature the pheon broad arrow emblem on the dial and case back, signalling British Crown property. The case back is stamped with W.W.W., a military serial number, and a manufacturer store number matching internal movement markings.

Military timepieces offer a functional, utilitarian aesthetic that pairs well with classic tailored clothing, leather jackets, or casual vintage attire. They can also be displayed in a glass watch cabinet or valet tray alongside other historical militaria.

Mechanical military watches require periodic servicing by a qualified horologist every three to five years to clean and lubricate the movement. They should be kept away from water, strong magnetic fields, and extreme impacts, while preserving original dial patination.
