Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique wash jug and bowl set dates from the Art Nouveau period around 1900. Made from earthenware ceramic, the pieces have a smooth glaze finish in shades of green and cream. The set displays moulded leaf decoration, floral relief details, and a whiplash handle alongside scalloped rims on both the jug and basin. The jug measures 33.5 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 21 cm deep, while the bowl measures 13 cm high, 41 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this traditional set serves as a decorative display piece on a bathroom counter or washstand. The vibrant green colourway brings a touch of organic style to an interior space, reflecting the characteristic natural motifs of the era. The ceramic construction provides a functional yet ornamental addition to a traditional room scheme.

FAQs

Art Nouveau wash sets typically feature organic forms, sinuous curves, and stylised botanical motifs integrated into the ceramic body and handles.

These sets were commonly crafted from earthenware, ironstone, or porcelain, finished with coloured lead glazes and moulded relief details.

Look for impressed or printed makers marks on the underside of the base, characteristic whiplash curves, and natural glaze crazing consistent with age.

Position the complete set on a sideboard or bathroom counter as a focal display, or utilise the pitcher independently to display fresh floral arrangements.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild wash liquid, avoiding abrasive pads or chemicals that may damage the glazed surface.
