A Henri II Style French Carved Oak Enfilade with Marble Top, Circa 1870

Description

An attractive French oak enfilade in the Henry II Renaissance Revival style, dating to circa 1870. The piece features a contrasting cream marble top set within a carved oak surround, above a single long frieze drawer decorated with a continuous band of carved floral roundels.

The single long frieze drawer is decorated with a continuous band of carved floral roundels and fitted with a decorative metal ring handle.

The upper section is supported by finely turned columns above a spacious open lower shelf, enclosed by decorative spindle galleries to the front and sides.

Further detailing includes carved geometric corner blocks, a moulded plinth and turned bun feet.

The oak has a rich, warm colour and attractive patina, beautifully complemented by the pale marble top.

A decorative and practical piece of furniture, ideal for use in a hallway, dining room or sitting room.
