Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George II lowboy is an 18th-century English side table or dressing table produced during the reign of King George II between 1727 and 1760. These pieces typically feature cabriole legs, multiple drawer configurations, and a decorative apron, often finished in figured or burr walnut veneers.

18th-century lowboys were predominantly constructed using walnut veneers, including figured and burr walnut, laid over solid oak or pine carcases. High-quality examples feature herringbone or feather banding surrounding the drawer fronts and tabletop, accompanied by cast brass drop handles.

Authentic George II pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, including hand-cut dovetail joints, oak drawer linings, and natural timber shrinkage across veneer surfaces. Original hardware or evidence of historic handle replacements typically leaves distinct outline markings on the timber face.

An antique lowboy serves as a versatile accent table in modern interiors, functioning as a hallway console, bedside table, or living room side table. Placing warm walnut furniture alongside contemporary artwork creates an engaging contrast in layered residential spaces.

Preserve antique walnut furniture by placing it away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid veneer lifting and timber movement. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to protect the natural patination.
