Description

Attributed to the Kendal-born artist, Daniel Garner (1750-1805), this characterful and expressive pastel portrait shows a gentleman with an egg-shaped head wearing a powdered toupee, a blue coat, grey waistcoat and white stock. The portrait is set with a verre eglomise mount (small area of delamination) within a period giltwood frame with an inner piecrust edging. The frame has a small metal plaque with the artist's name and dates.
