Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Aesthetic Movement chest of drawers is constructed from warm pine with red painted linear inlay details and stands on a sturdy plinth base. The facade comprises two short drawers positioned over three graduated long drawers, all fitted with original decorative brass bail handles and keyhole escutcheons. The timber exhibits a rich tone and visible grain throughout the facade. Measuring 102 cm high, 107 cm wide, and 54 cm deep, the piece provides substantial storage capacity while maintaining a classic footprint. In a contemporary interior, this traditional storage item functions well in a bedroom, hallway, or living space as a practical surface and chest.

FAQs

Aesthetic Movement furniture emphasises simplified geometric forms, subtle decorative details such as line inlay, and functional elegance rather than heavy ornate carving.

These chests typically feature solid pine construction, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, tongue-and-groove backboards, and solid brass drop handles or keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery, natural timber shrinkage on drawer linings, hand-planed surfaces, and age-consistent patina around handles and lock plates.

Positioning warm pine against neutral wall finishes creates balanced contrast, while pairing the piece with modern ceramic vessels or simple lighting integrates heritage timber into contemporary schemes.

Dusting with a dry lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish periodically protects the wood, while keeping the piece away from direct heat prevents timber shrinkage and splitting.
