It''s of lovely large scale and we find that these plan map chests look so much better if they are the model raised on legs rather than plinth to ground level. Due to its size it is highly placeable, maybe into a kitchen diner or work space, saying that the last one went into a London gallery for displaying ceramics. This one is by English maker Abbess offering 6 long oak drawers with original period oak handles, a soft edged oak top and as mentioned, sitting on those 4 workman like solid oak legs. Condition is good for a works piece - the tone is good in the oak and veneer with the odd historic mark and scratches etc all part of its past office life but the piece sits well, all drawers run well, back is good and we have no repairs. Our workshop has carefully repolished to enhance the grain of the oak and ensured it''s ready for placing.
