This is a delightful 19th Century oil painting on panel in beautiful condition dating from around 1870.

The painting is superbly executed with great craftsmanship depicting a beautiful young girl stood in pensive thought, barefoot with her clogs and bonnet at her feet. The flower girl is taking a few moments in thought from her work. The detail and skill is evident throughout the work with beautiful use of colour and attention to light and texture. The painting is signed J E Detaille to the lower right corner and bears the name to the plaque on the fine frame.

This is a most decorative thoughtful work of great beauty.

The picture measures 56 cms by 46 cms overall including the frame.
