Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Eighteenth-century Venetian cityscapes, often known as vedute, gained immense popularity among European travellers on the Grand Tour, capturing the architectural splendour and bustling canals of Venice with meticulous detail.

Canvas reproductions typically employ textured woven cotton or linen stretched over internal wooden stretcher frames, often finished with protective varnishes to mimic the sheen of oil paint.

Authentic vintage prints display aging characteristics such as craquelure in the varnish, oxidation on the reverse stretcher bars, and traditional framing methods, whereas modern prints feature contemporary staples and synthetic inks.

A large classical artwork serves as a striking focal point above a sofa or sideboard, anchoring neutral colour palettes and adding historical depth to modern minimalist spaces.

Canvas art should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, maintained in stable humidity conditions, and gently dusted with a soft, dry microfibre cloth.
