Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ukiyo-e, meaning pictures of the floating world, flourished in Japan during the Edo period. These relief prints depicted popular culture, famous actors, landscapes, and female portraiture, known as bijin-ga, serving as accessible art for the emerging merchant class.

Traditional Japanese woodblock prints were crafted using cherry wood blocks carved in relief, vegetable and mineral pigments, and handmade mulberry paper (washi). Artists pressed damp paper onto inked blocks using a bamboo tool called a baren.

Authentic prints feature publisher seals, censor stamps (kiwame), and artist signatures carved directly into the print block. Examining the paper texture, evidence of pigment penetration through to the reverse, and subtle alignment marks (kento) helps establish period authenticity.

Displaying a set of framed ukiyo-e prints in a clean grid formation creates a focal point above a sideboard or along a hallway. Their graphic line work and subdued colour palette complement both minimalist contemporary spaces and traditional decorative schemes.

Preserve antique paper prints by framing them behind UV-protective glass with acid-free mounting materials to prevent discoloration. Keep them out of direct sunlight and maintain a stable indoor humidity level to avoid paper warping or foxing.
