Description

A traditional Japanese kiri isho tansu chest, crafted from beautifully grained paulownia wood and designed in three stacking sections for ease of transport. The upper compartment features a pair of sliding doors fitted with circular iron hardware, opening to reveal practical storage. Below sit a series of drawers of varying sizes, each with its original iron pulls. All three sections stack securely and remain in excellent, usable condition, with age-related marks that speak to its history without compromising structure or function. The pale, lightweight paulownia timber has developed a soft, time-worn surface, giving the piece a warm, organic presence. A superb example of Japanese domestic furniture — tactile, architectural, and effortlessly at home in both contemporary and traditional interiors.
