Bushells Antiques has dated this Vienna Bronze Magpie Sculpture to the 1900s.
Finely cast in solid bronze and meticulously finished with hand-applied cold paint in black and white, the sculpture exhibits excellent naturalistic modeling and expressive detail, characteristic of high-quality Vienna bronzes.

The sculpture bears the distinctive Bergman foundry mark, “B” within an urn, to the underside, confirming production by the Franz Bergman workshop. The elongated, dynamic posture of the bird emphasizes movement and anatomical accuracy, making this an especially decorative and lively example.

Original cold paint remains throughout with expected age-related wear consistent with early 1900s production. A desirable and collectible signed Vienna bronze, well suited for display in both traditional and modern interiors
