J. Weissenbruch. This oil on canvas depicts a traditional wooden drawbridge crossing a calm canal, with a barge moored alongside and low farm buildings beyond. The sky is broad and overcast, and reflections on the water are finely rendered, typical of the quiet, atmospheric style for which the artist is known.

Signed ‘Willem Weissenbruch’ lower right.
Presented in an older moulded gilt frame.
Frame size: Approx. 47 x 31 cm
Condition: Good condition overall. Some stable craquelure to the paint surface consistent with age. Colours remain strong. The gilt frame shows minor wear and marks commensurate with age.
