Oil Painting After Elisabeth Le Brun

A really lovely example of the famous self-portrait of Elisabeth Le Brun in oil on artist board after the original. The work would be a copy made in Florence after the original work which hangs in the Uffizi Gallery. The painting is not signed but this is not unusual for this type of work which was produced for tourists to Italy. The work retains the original Florentine carved giltwood frame which is in good untouched condition with the original gilding. The whole is a great example of this type of work produced in Florence and unusual as this particular painting by Le Brun is not often seen. The whole has a great country house look and is ready to hang. C.1880
