The Imari style in English ceramics, popularised in the late 18th and 19th centuries, was inspired by imported Japanese export porcelains featuring a distinctive palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and abundant gilding.

Antique Spode pieces are typically crafted from fine bone china or porcelain, hand-painted with mineral oxides, and finished with delicate hand-applied gold gilding before being kiln-fired.

Authentic pieces are identified through makers marks, pattern numbers painted or stamped on the base, paste composition, and the specific hand-painted nuances typical of the period.

Antique tea sets can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, used as decorative table accents on a sideboard, or incorporated into eclectic tablescapes to add colour and historical texture.

Antique porcelain requires gentle hand washing in lukewarm water with mild soap; it should never be placed in a dishwasher or microwave to protect the fragile enamels and gold gilding.
