Description

Gents antique silver trench watch, 1911.

The watch has a hand-winding movement, possibly by the ebauche manufacturer A Schild, which is working nicely.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1911 together with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case is in lovely condition, just a hint of unevenness to the back but nothing serious.

The glass lens has a few small marks but it is very acceptable.

The dial is in good condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
