Small Early Victorian Portrait Of A Gentleman

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

A fine small oil on tin portrait of a gentleman. The portrait depicts the sitter half-length in oval; he is smartly dressed in black with an eye glass hanging from a ribbon around his neck. The quality of the painting is very good and was most likely painted in London, sadly it is not signed. The tin panel was prepared by Waring and Dimes of London dating the work to C.1840. The painting is in excellent untouched condition and retains the original gilt frame also in good condition with some later overpaint. The whole is a great example of this period of portraiture and is ready to hang.

Overall sizes in inches including frame: 12 ¼ by 14
