FAQs

Eighteenth-century chests typically feature clean architectural proportions, high-quality timber selection, and understated brass hardware characteristic of the Georgian era.

Authentic pieces are constructed from dense tropical hardwoods like mahogany, often incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer boxes and solid timber secondary woods.

Authentication relies on examining hand-planed surfaces, irregular dovetailing, original brass swing handles, and natural timber oxidisation accumulated over centuries.

Pair the rich wood tones with neutral walls and minimalist contemporary decor to highlight the historical texture and craftsmanship without cluttering the space.

Maintain timber condition by avoiding direct sunlight, keeping away from heat sources, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
