Description

A genuine 19th-century Chinese temple sculpture of Shakyamuni, finely carved with crisp bead-like ushnisha curls, refined eyelids, and deeply undercut S-folds. Remnants of original blue and red polychromy survive, adding subtle colour. The circular opening between the hands is the original candle aperture, confirming its devotional use. The back is also carved and painted, showing it was intended for altar or niche display. Strong decorative appeal with honest patina; no structural breaks, only age-related wear and small nicks to the base.
