Brass Barometer with Chinoiserie Frame

Description

This charming antique barometer combines elegant brass instrumentation with a beautifully painted chinoiserie frame. The dial, marked with traditional weather indicators, is signed by J.D. Siddall, Optician, The Cross, Chester, and includes a dedication to W. Craven Llewelyn Esq. from the Liberals of Chester Division, April 1925—a lovely historical touch. The frame features a tranquil riverside scene with a figure in traditional dress, birds, a pagoda, and lush foliage, all picked out in soft tones and highlighted with gilt detailing. While there are small areas of wear and minor losses, these are typical of antique pieces and add to its character. A decorative and historically interesting piece that would suit a range of interiors.
