In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The handles are not original but suit the piece well. The drawers and the top have a decorative boxwood strung border and the chest stands on ogee bracket feet.
It is in very good condition for its age. The oak lined drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are some signs of age and wear, some minor old marks and knocks and a small shrinkage split in the top but nothing untoward and they are strong and sturdy. The chest has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
